Julia on the rise

Julia Snyman returns victorious from the Actors, Models and Talent for Christ (AMTC) convention.

JULIA Snyman is a rising young star in the Johannesburg entertainment landscape. The 10-year-old Glenvista resident recently returned from a trip to Orlando, Florida where she competed with other talented young South Africans in the annual Actors, Models and Talent for Christ (AMTC) Convention. She participated in the competition from December 28 to January 3 at the Gaylord Palms Resort. Julia was the youngest of the group of seven South African performers.

Julia is a triple-threat, training in Checetti ballet, acting and singing. She also participates in many extra mural activities including swimming, netball and horse riding. She has been acting since pre-school; taking part in many school productions and eisteddfods.

At the AMTC Convention, Julia was named the Shine Winner for 2016 and overall winner in the female child actor category. During the competition, the young aspiring performers are scouted by different agencies including ABC, VH1, Walt Disney, Sony BMG, Elite Models, Capital Records and many more. After Julia’s winning performance at the AMTC Convention one judge reportedly said he had no words. She fondly remembered acting her last line “I am qualified for world domination” in the style of a mouse. The talent finale was live streamed and watched by the entire family at home in South Africa.

She names the late Robin Williams as her favourite actor and says she doesn’t get nervous before hitting the stage. Her dream role is Mal the daughter of Maleficent in the Disney Channel film, Descendents.

Julia stated that she would like to pursue a career in performing and believes that she is born to act. “If you put all your effort together and pour heart and soul into your dreams, nothing is impossible,” she said.
