A winner at Alberton Makro

A lucky Alberton Makro customer received a R200 000 Hubolt watch.

SIPHO Sithole said that he thought it was a scam when he received a call from Makro in Alberton stating that he had won a prize worth over R 200 000 for purchasing four bottles of Rémy Martin cognac. Sipho said later that it was only after he had received an e-mail that he began to believe it. The 42 year-old businessman reportedly regularly buys Rémy Martin Very Superior Old Pale cognac from Makro in Alberton.

Sipho won a Hublot watch, valued at R 200 000, as part of a promotion run by Makro giving away R2.5-million worth of prizes. The competition ran from October 2015. All Makro cardholders were automatically entered when purchasing a 750ml bottle of Rémy Martin.

Upon receiving the watch, Sipho stated that he would only be wearing it on special occasions.
