Art awards at The Glen

The Glen Shopping Centre was abuzz with excited learners and parents at the Southern Suburb Art Display Awards

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The Fountain Court at The Glen Shopping Centre was abuzz with excited learners and parents at the Southern Suburb Art Display Awards on November 20 at 18:00.

During this event, learners also received certificates for their artwork.

Learners from Glenanda Primary School, Townsview Primary School, Mondeor Primary School, Winchester Ridge Primary School, Aloe Ridge Primary School, Meredale Primary School, Park Senior School and Robertsham Primary School took part in this event.

Parents, family members, friends and shoppers could view and appreciate the learners’ artwork which was on display.

Mrs Annastella Papageorgiou, who coordinated the art display and awards event, invited schools from the surrounding area to participate. She collected all the artwork, had it delivered to the Glen and placed on display. Papageorgiou also arranged for two adjudicators to judge the artwork and then invite the students to the awards function on Friday evening.

“I want to give a big thank you to management at The Glen, Miss Earth and PNA for all that they contributed to make the awards a success,” said Papageorgiou.

The Glen provided space for the event to take place and arranged stands for the artwork which was displayed at the centre from November 18 to November 22.

The Glen printed certificates for all the entrants and sponsored 12 Glen gift cards of R200 each for the teachers from the participating schools. PNA The Glen sponsored R100 PNA vouchers for the 42 gold winners of each category.

Miss Earth South Africa sponsored pencil cases, art badges and South African flags for the gold, silver and bronze winners in each category.
