LICO celebrates Diwali early

The charity organisation spread joy by providing food hampers to homes for elderly residents as part of their Diwali celebrations.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Members of LICO have again undertaken to give back to the elderly and those in need in the south communities.

The charity organisation spread joy by providing food hampers to at least seven homes for elderly residents as part of their Diwali celebrations which is to take place on November 11.

“This year food hampers were distributed to the needy and old ages homes including the Annie Burger Home, Nirvana Old Age Home, Ikhaya Lokugula Mental Home in Orange Farm and Ikhwezilokusa Home for the Mentally and Physically Disabled Children in De Deur,” said chairperson of LICO, Deva Naidoo.

Underprivileged residents in Robertsham and Crown Gardens were also given food hampers in the spirit of Diwali.

“The true spirit of Diwali has reached everyone through giving to those in need and also fulfilling a dream that no unfortunate and poor Hindu home shall be without the basic food stuffs even before we celebrate Diwali,” added Naidoo.

The highlight of the distribution was the special sponsorships received from Nancefield Paints, Spectivision Designer Graphix, Shaam Sungeeth show band, Dayanand Mistry, Sundrum Moodley of Mailtronics and Lawrence Pillay of Active Power Projects.
