A splash of colour – rainbow nation

Once upon a time, all the colours in the world started to quarrel.

Each claimed to be the best, the most important, the most useful, the favourite.

Gold said, “I depict wealth, the stars, the sun, without me the world would be in utter darkness.”

Red explained, “I indicate danger, love and blood! Without me there would be no life.”

Green debated: “I portray growth, vegetation and gentleness, without me the world would be barren!”

Blue uttered, “I symbolize beauty, the sea and the sky. If it wasn’t for me the world would be desolate!”

Pink exclaimed, “I indicate romance, compassion, friendship and most of all faithfulness, without me the world would be lonely!”

White exclaimed, “I portray freshness, hope, and goodness, without me there would be war!”

Purple shouted, “Well if it wasn’t for me there would be no such thing as humanity, animal and plant life!”

In anger all the colours rushed toward each other and a magnificent rainbow appeared across the backdrop of the sky, they all realised how spectacular they all were together.
