Lack of rain, high water demand problematic

Persistent high temperatures in Rand Water’s area of supply continue to strain its bulk water supply system.

RAND Water and municipalities in Gauteng are urging consumers to use water sparingly as concerns over the water supply system intensify.

According to the media relations manager at Rand Water, Justice Mohale, persistent high temperatures in Rand Water’s area of supply continue to strain its bulk water supply system.

“The lack of rainfall in Gauteng is exacerbating the situation. The high water demand will cause localised problems in the City of Johannesburg, City of Tshwane and the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality,” said Mohale.

All consumers are requested to use water responsibly and sparingly. More advice on how residents can save water is available on the Water Wise link at www.randwater.co.za
