Mall at Newmarket opened its doors on Thursday, October 22, to throngs of shoppers eager to see what was on offer.
Riaan Jonker from REJEM, who dreamt about this project for 10 years, combined efforts with the Moolman group in this joint venture. Riaan wanted to recreate the magic of Alberton’s horseracing era and he has definitely succeeded as icons and black and white photos of horseracing can be seen throughout the mall.
At the launch Joanna de Bruyn, the centre manager, welcomed everyone before Ken Reynolds, the regional executive for corporate property finance from Nedbank, spoke about their involvement in the project and that there would be future ventures to look forward to.
Chairman of the REJEM group, Dr Kwame Amuah, praised the joint venture and development with the Moolman Group and said they share the same family values.
Kwame also mentioned that the development rights include building a hospital on the 77 hectares available. The health and beauty stores include Dream Nails, Hair and Beauty, Nutriverse and a Virgin Active gym.

Checkers Hyper and the soon to open Food Lovers Market adds a wonderful variety to the grocery stores in the area and the speciality shops feature Baby Boom, Cat Box Hyper, Incredible Connection, Thule, Goldrush Bingo and Crazy Plastics.
The Builders Warehouse, Rochester, Outdoor Warehouse and Shoprite liquor stores are a nice addition to the centre mix and if you and your family are looking for something scrumptious to eat, visit Calistos, John Dory’s, Mugg and Bean and RocoMammas.
