Graduates realised their dreams by qualifying

The Teachers Learning Centre (TLC) for Early Childhood Development celebrated their annual graduation ceremony at Christian Harvest Church this month.

MULBARTON – These graduates completed either a NQF Level 4 or Level 5 accredited qualification as required by the National Strategic Plan as set out by the Department of Education.

These graduates are now able to implement their skills and knowledge as competent Nursery School Practitioners.

They have been prepared to facilitate active learning and development of babies, toddlers and young children in an ECD environment.

Many of the TLC students are sponsored by organisations such as Cotlands, Joint Aid Management and Lerato Community Centre. A large number of these sponsored graduates have their own ECD sites in Orange Farm and other local communities.

Previously these graduates would not have had the opportunity to further their career in this sector as they did not qualify for access to Higher Education. “Since many of our graduates do not have Grade 12 education, their fundamentals (English, Second Language, Math.Lit) are bridged according to the SAQA standards,” said Lorraine Patterson, coordinator of TLC Early Childhood Development.

“We believe that with the skills they acquired, their contribution to uplift pre-school education will be valuable and much needed in the current South African context.  In addition their achievements will provide them with opportunities  for capacity building in their own communities.

“Organisations who wish to contribute to the upliftment of the Early Childhood Development sector and at the same time enhance their BEE status, Corporate Social Responsibility and Enterprise Development, can contact Sandy Burmeister at our Head Office (011 432 6189) which is situated on the corner of True North Road and Little Loop Street, Mulbarton.

Alternatively visit their website www.teacherslearningcentre.co.za. to find out more about their training.
