Access still denied to grandparents

Odette's parents, Pam and Stan Immelman, are being denied access to their eldest grandchild, Warwick (23).

GLENVISTA  – The murder of Odette Barkhuizen, who was shot dead on June 11 at her business premises in Oakdene, continues to cause grief and is a huge strain on her family.

“We feel Warwick is being used as a pawn in this mess. It’s totally unacceptable that we can’t have him with us,” they said.

The youngest grandson, Wade (17), is being kept from the family home, and is unable to gain access to his school books and his computer.

“The person who is apparently looking after the family home, where Warwick is, won’t let Wade in to collect anything or to see his brother.

“I was allowed to see Warwick for an hour last week, but he was under police guard. I felt like a criminal as we sat at a local café being watched as we spoke.

”It’s absolutely bizarre and we are being made to feel as though we are the bad people in all of this. Our grandchildren and we are being punished,” said Pam.

It’s alleged that the accused in the murder trial is going to appeal for bail. He will next appear in the Johannesburg High Court on October 29.
