BASSONIA – Neither the truck driver nor his passenger was hurt, although they were visibly shaken.
According to an eyewitness on the scene, vehicles were moving slowly down Comaro Street due to the traffic lights on the corner of Soetdoring Avenue and Comaro Street being out of order. “I can’t say if the truck driver was travelling too fast or if his brakes failed but all of a sudden he veered onto the central island, took out a pole and hit a tree before the truck overturned.
EMS were at the scene and Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD), who took statements from the driver of the truck and his passenger.
Comaro Street was backed up with traffic for about an hour.
