Tsogo Sun’s upgrade of Gold Reef City nears completion

This sizeable investment in the property is in line with Tsogo Sun’s corporate strategy to invest in and expand its operations in South Africa.

GOLD Reef City Casino’s refurbishment and expansion is nearing completion and will undoubtedly add greater value to one of Gauteng’s premier entertainment and tourist destinations.

This sizeable investment in the property is in line with Tsogo Sun’s corporate strategy to invest in and expand its operations in South Africa. “We have a vested interest in all our properties and we need to ensure that they stay relevant, fresh and competitive in the leisure market,” said Tsogo Sun CEO, Marcel von Aulock.

Gold Reef City, one of three Tsogo Sun entertainment precincts in Gauteng, features a strong historical aspect with its underground mine, mining village and the world renowned Apartheid Museum. “Gold Reef City has always been a favourite family destination for local and international visitors, and our extensive investment in this upgrade will offer a wide range of new experiences,” said Marcel.

New to the Gold Reef City line-up too, is the Tsogo Sun movie franchise, Movies@Gold Reef City, which is a Victorian train station themed six-cinema complex. The cinemas can seat up to 1048 people and four of the theatres have 3D capability. The largest theatre is Platform 2, Grand Central, which has 322 seats. Platform 3, which seats 84, boasts luxurious leather seats and a bar, and is ideal for intimate corporate functions and exclusive VIP events.

The casino has been rejuvenated with new carpeting, as well as upgraded lighting and décor. The new Privé Lounge features an opulent gaming ambience with its own private entrances, playing areas, baccarat room, internet and cash desk facilities, lobby, VIP desk, as well as an exclusive lounge.
