Breakfast run with a purpose

The run is supported by Think Bike and is in aid of Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Bikers of all ages are invited to the second Vic’s Vaal Bike Dash, a 102 km marshaled motorbike ride from Meyersdal through to Parys Golf Estate in Parys.

The run, scheduled for Sunday morning, October 4, is supported by Think Bike and is in aid of Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services in New Market Park.

Brothers Jared (18) and Jon Daniel Sadie (16), from Alberante, wanted to honour their mom’s legacy so they organised the first Vic’s Vaal Bike Dash, held in March last year. Vicky Bruce passed away in January 2013, at the age of 38, after years of suffering from Osteogenesis Imperfecta. During her last months, Vicky was cared for by Hospice and her dying wish was for other people who are suffering to be able to also experience the kindness and dedication she experienced from the Hospice staff.

This wish led to her mom, Tersia Burger, and a group of determined Alberton ladies establishing Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services, the first of this kind of service in the Greater Alberton area of Ekurhuleni.

Entry fee for the ride is R200 per rider and R200 per pillion. The fee includes a breakfast at Parys Golf Estate and a gift. The ride will start at 08:00 on October 4, leaving from De Marionette Shopping Centre in Meyersdal.
