Trauma group support

Anthea Sam is a counsellor, who also assists with trauma counselling for a local police station.

GLENVISTA – “With the terrible crime which is a daily occurrence in our local areas, trauma counselling is extremely important for victims to be able to overcome their fears,” said Anthea.

Trauma counselling, which is available for victims of crime, is available free at many police stations but it is often limited to a few sessions.

“After a traumatic experience, such as a hijacking, home invasion or having a gun put to one’s head, trauma counselling is really essential and often the victim needs many therapy sessions to enable them to learn to deal with their fears,” she added.

Anthea is beginning group therapy sessions in Glenvista on Wednesday August 26, from 18:00 to 20:00 and the cost per person, per session will be R50.  “I want to make trauma counselling affordable for victims of crime. Group sessions can be helpful for many people as they can each share their experiences and help each other overcome their fears.”

If you are interested in joining the group session, please phone Anthea on 083 659 0669.
