Cantare choir to sing at their 20th birthday celebrations

The Cantare Children’s choir will be celebrating their 20th jubilee in September.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Cantare Children’s Choir will celebrate their 20th jubilee at the University of Johannesburg’s Sanlam Auditorium on September 12.

The auditorium is located at the UJ Kingsway campus in Auckland Park.

Since being founded in 1995, by Ida Strydom and the former Transvaal Education Department, the Cantare Children’s Choir has continued to enrich the lives of children whose goal it is to cantare or just as the Italian word means, to sing.

The jubilee programme will include the Colla Voce Youth Choir as well as previous Cantare members who have excelled in the music industry. Hanno Zeeman of Navy Red fame will also be performing with the choir.

The Cantare Children’s Choir is recognised nationally and internationally for their outstanding sound quality and contribution to the appreciation and performance of music.

On Wednesday, August 1, the choir participated in the International ATKV Animato Choir competition for children’s, youth and university choirs and received a gold award. They will be singing in the finals of this competition in October this year.

The Cantare Children’s Choir invites all previous members to join the jubilee celebration.

Bookings and enquiries can be made with Carlien on 082 257 1407 or the Cantare Office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays on 011 908 5616. Tickets cost R80 per person and includes refreshments.
