Young man dies in Rosettenville

The family of a young male found dead on the street is found

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The body of a 23-year-old male was found lying on the side of the road in Diering Street, Rosettenville, on July 21, only hours after he was last seen with two of his friends.

On the morning the body was discovered, various community members were at the scene to help identify the young man. Three young girls said they knew him from a school in Mondeor and others said they saw him daily on High Street in Rosettenville.Booysens SAPS were called to the scene, together with Moffatview CPF member, Don Hooper, Johannesburg firefighters and Clr Tyrell Meyers who was there behalf of Clr Rashida Landis.

The Booysens SAPS communications officer, Lorraine van Emmerik, said: “Our members received the call at 07:45 and attended the scene accordingly. The family was located on the day of the death and statements have been taken from friends who were with him.”

Some residents at the scene alleged that the victim was from Bellavista and some said he was a regular in Rosettenville, as he had been seen often in both locations. Booysens SAPS confirmed that the victim stayed stayed in Kenilworth.

At this stage, Booysens SAPS is waiting for the post-mortem report detailing the cause of death and the investigation is ongoing.
