Joy Dogs spread joy on Mandela Day

Glenvista resident wins the Joy Dogs’ raffle.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Sue Green and the Joy Dogs kicked off Mandela Day with a raffle that managed to raise R1 100 for Cotlands.

The lucky winner of the blanket raffle was Mr Fritz Madel of the Pilates Studio in Glenvista.

Green decided to take a creative approach this year and raffled a blanket knitted out of dog hair in an effort to raise funds that will make a difference in the community.

Previously, Cotlands director, Jackie Schoeman said that, “It’s a very unique way to support the Mandela drive for blankets. It’s a very interesting spin on the drive. It’s very nice that Sue chose to make Cotlands the beneficiary of her donation”.

That isn’t all the Joy Dogs got up to on Mandela Day. The Joy Dogs also visited a children’s home in Leeuhof, Vereeniging, where Sue partnered with 90.6 FM Stereo and Netcare 911 to explain to the children the services and uses of ambulances.

“It was a very informative day and all the children received gift packs, including my book Life with Oscar, donated food, clothing and a meal. They were very well behaved around the dogs and thoroughly enjoyed seeing and touching them and watching the dogs perform some tricks,” said Green.
