Glenanda Library gets Mandela Day surprise

Reading books for the community donated in honour of Nelson Mandela.

GLENANDA – Passerby’s were greeted by members of the ANC Regina Nzo Ward 23 branch organising a stack of reading books before donating them to the Glenanda Library as part of their 67 minutes campaign for Mandela Day.

“The Regina Nzo Ward 23 branch donated 67 books to the Glenanda Library in honour of the 67 minutes for Mandela Day campaign. Zone 11 also held a soup kitchen at Vorster Park and all this started with a motorcade from Mayfield Park to Glenanda Library,” said Nomgqibelo Mogale, one of the handover coordinators.

Mogale approached the Glenanda Library for a list of all the priority books that were needed and members of the branch then donated the required books.

Senior library assistant, Margaret van der Walt received the reading book donations. “Thank you ANC for the wonderful books that you have donated to the Glenanda Library. Our community will appreciate this dearly,” said van der Walt.

Chaiperson of Zone 11, Ika Magasa said, “In an effort to ensure that the legacy of Nelson Mandela is never forgotten, Joburg South Zone 11 hosted a series of activities to mark the international Mandela Day. Volunteers and communities across the zone donated 67 minutes of their time by rolling up their sleeves and partaking in activities aimed at making a difference in the lives of the people of the South”.
