They ruined my garden: More troubles surround mast in Mulbarton

More troubles surround mast in Mulbarton

MULBARTON – The front lawn of a Mulbarton resident’s home was left in a state after Vodacom contractors installed a mast.

Kenneth Mafatle previously complained that he had not been contacted regarding the installation of the mast and now reports that the grass on his lawn was damaged by contractors.

“It has now been completed, even though it was against the wishes of the neighbourhood. I think it is the responsibility of Vodacom to remove all the rubbish left in front of my house. My lawn was torn apart in preparation of this ugly monster. It will be decent of Vodacom to restore my garden to its original state without any further delays. Surprisingly, if not expected, the new light is not operational, leaving our neighbourhood in darkness,” he said.

Executive head of corporate communications at Vodacom, Richard Boorman, responded to the CHRONICLE and said: “I’m pleased to say that there’s a very easy explanation for this – the contractors haven’t finished at the site yet. They will be back on-site to finish connecting up the power and to clean up the site post-installation.”

City Power maintenance workers at the site told this reporter that they were there to connect the street light and also requested Mafatle to get a quote for his lawn, for which he will be compensated.

Mafatle was unavailable at the time the reporter and contractors were at his home.
