Illegal immigrants occupy Oakdene house

Beware: Known fraudsters continue swindling homeless immigrants looking for rental properties in upmarket suburbs

OAKDENE – It appears a warning by Moffatview SAPS against an alleged Nigerian fraudster, Jack Ikenachukwu was sent to the CHRONICLE too little too late.

The warning, “Beware of fraudster”, was published on page six in the Southern COURIER and CHRONICLE newspapers on March 18, after an Oakdene homeowner discovered four families of Zimbabwean nationality occupying his house on Lethaba Street next to The Glen.

“I got here on March 4 with the garden service, when I heard voices in the house. I entered the backdoor, which was not locked, and a woman (Fundiswa Princess Sondzaba) was in the house. I asked her who she was and she asked me who I was,” explained the property owner, who requested not to be named as he owns a business in the suburb.

The homeowner explained to the lady who he was and enquired who had given these people permission to occupy his property. He was then presented with a document that the woman claimed was a lease agreement; and it had the name and contact details of Jack Ikenachukwu. The document claimed that Ikenachukwu was an estate agent for Lencar.

Rent collectors, Basil Nkwenkwe Vundla and Fundiswa Princess Sondzaba, are known by law enforcement and the council to be “property hijackers”. These two swindlers and professional swindlers were in possession of South African identity documents, even though they are known to be of Zimbabwean nationality.

DA Cllr Dennis Jane, Moffatview SAPS, the homeowner and his hired security were all at the scene of the eviction on March 12. Although the four families vacated the property willingly, they reportedly attempted to break in the following day, which is what prompted the homeowner to hire 24 hour security.

Jack Ikenachukwu’s numbers both go straight to voicemail, and Lencar has confirmed that he is not their property agent.
