Know your neighbour

On Tuesday February 10, the Domestic Watch group met at Sasol Garage on Columbine Avenue for their meeting, where Know Your Neighbour was the topic.

SUIDEROORD –  This was the first lesson for 2015 and Clive Wannanberg gave the talk, stressing to the members that “your neighbour could save your life and you could save his!”

He said, “Get to know your neighbour, introduce yourself and chat about any strange happenings you may see in the neighbourhood. Become a nosey neighbour and know what is going on in your street.

“Listen out for each other. If you hear a scream coming from close by, call for professional help and do not run to the problem. Press your panic button to call the security company, keep calm and take down information that you are seeing or hearing, such as a car’s registration number, colour and make of the vehicle.”

A member of Mondeor SAPS, constable S E Mnguni (Corporate Communications), attended the meeting.

Coordinator of the group, Michelle Pelser, said, “Thank you to Mondeor Primary School for supplying the buses to transport the domestic staff and to SOS for supplying a vehicle to follow the buses.”

The next meeting will be held at Sasol Garage, corner Columbine Avenue and Swartgoud Street, Suideroord on Tuesday March 10 at 10:00. For more information phone Michelle  084 292 9144.
