Victims claim they saw blue light suspects

Identity parade of blue light gang suspects reveals worrying information

KLIPRIVIERSBERG – The two men suspected of being part of the blue light gang serves as a reminder of the dreadful day the victims were hijacked on Klipriver Drive.

The victims of the hijacking were called in by Ennerdale SAPS for an identity parade to determine whether these two suspects could be linked to the hijacking that took place on the Kliprivier Drive.

According information received from Ennerdale SAPS by Mondeor SAPS Communications Officer, Constable Mnguni, the hijackers were not linked to the hijacking. The victims did not identify the men as the criminals who hijacked them.

On January 28, the Glenvista CPF posted on their Facebook page: “Polo Blue Light Gang Success – SAPS have made an impressive breakthrough this weekend against this gang posing as JMPD officers in a white VW Polo with blue police lights.

“The gang was responsible for two hijackings in our area on Klipriver Drive on January 16 and 17, pulling motorists off the road and posing as policemen. It is also believed the same gang hijacked various other vehicles, in similar fashion, on the R59 motorway near Meyerton and in Vereeniging.

“On Sunday, January 25 SAPS found the VW Polo in Ennerdale with two suspects arrested. The vehicle was equipped with a police siren and blue strobe light and the investigation is being led by SAPS National Detectives. We also have credible information one of those arrested is an ex – policeman previously implicated in truck hijackings. A BMW taken in a hijacking in Vereeniging was also recovered.

“Hopefully, more arrests will follow as the gang operated in a group of five. Congratulations to SAPS on speedy results! The Glenvista Community thanks you. We all feel much safer using Klipriver Drive now.”

Constable Mnguni also revealed that the registration number on the hijacker’s getaway vehicle was found to be fraudulent as it was registered to a motorbike.

According to Mondeor SAPS they confirmed with the Glenvista CPF that the suspects were in fact arrested and urged them to warn the community about the operations by the blue light gang on Kliprivier Drive. Upon further investigations after confirming with the CPF, it was discovered that the two suspects arrested are not linked to the hijackings on Kliprivier Drive.
