Former JMPD Officer among suspects

A domestic worker leads SAPS to where one of the suspects was hiding.

RISPARK – SAPS Officers moved swiftly to foil a hijacking of a cigarette vehicle and a silver bakkie which were taken at a shopping centre in Katlehong in the Eastrand.

Fidelity Security chased the suspects from Katlehong all the way to Rispark, where the suspects abandoned the silver bakkie on the corner of Swartkoppies Road and Gazelle Road in Rispark.

Three suspects including a former JMPD officer were all caught and arrested swiftly not long after they scattered into the residences near where the hijacked vehicle was abandoned.

Mondeor SAPS together with Fidelity Security and D&D Tactical closed off Swartkoppies Road as a manhunt for the hijacking suspects ensued. After a few minutes into the search, police found and arrested the first suspect.

A Toyota Quantum transporting the cigarettes was abandoned in the East Rand not far from where it was hijacked. No goods were removed from the vehicle.
