St Declan’s School for Boys opens its doors

The inauguration of St Declan’s School for Boys took place on Tuesday January 13, with new parents and their children in attendance, as well as the school principal and staff who will be serving the school.

RIETVLEI FARM – For Debbie and Derek Robertson (directors of the schools), St Declan’s is a dream come true, following on the success of Grace Trinity School for Girls. In opening, a proud Derek said, “In this school your son will grow to his full potential and we are certain he’ll enjoy every single day. Huge thanks to our maintenance team, headed by Mr Roy Fleetwood, who put in extra hours to ensure the school would be ready for the January opening. ”

Principal, Roger Looyen was welcomed and said to the young boys entering the school, “You are pioneers, history in the making. We don’t only want you to be successful but significant in going forward.

“I’d like to thank the boys’ parents for entrusting us with your most precious children, the community, staff and my family.”

Members of the choir from Grace Trinity sang, Eye of the Tiger, welcoming the “new” boys to St Declan’s.

Mr Looyen cut the ribbon and announced St Declan’s officially open, where after a cake was cut to honour the opening and refreshments were served to guests.
