Garden club members make Christmas table decorations

On Saturday November 15, Johannesburg South Garden Club members met at the Entrance Precinct, Peggy Vera Road, in Kibler Park and enjoyed a morning making a Christmas table decoration.

KIBLER PARK –  Robbie and Leonarda Jones showed the members how easy it is to make up a Christmas table decoration by using the bare minimum of bought goods and using greenery from the garden.

Jenny Richardson, Leonarda Jones and Claire De Sousa.

“All you need is a block of florists foam, a rectangle tray, a few Christmas baubles, a candle and some ribbon, as well as greenery from your garden,” said Robbie.

Pat Sharp, Anne Du Plessis and Anne Helmrich.

“Soak the florist foam and place in the tray. Insert the candle in the middle and from the bottom of each side build up with greenery. You can make one side longer than the other. When the whole foam is full of different greenery, add the Christmas baubles and ribbon. Don’t forget to water the arrangement at least once a week so the foam won’t dry out and the greenery die,” added Robbie.

It was a fun morning with everyone’s table decoration looking different. Afterwards members enjoyed a delicious tea.
