Revamped library for Glenanda Primary

A refurbished library was handed over to deserving Glenanda Primary learners.

GLENANDA – Children’s book author and best seller Dr Seuss said it best when he stated: “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn the more places you will go.”

The eagerness to read and learn by Glenanda Primary learners, witnessed by Educare and Trade Route Mall representatives, motivated the plans for the revamp. The aim was also to help the learners with their Annual National Assessment (ANA) results.

“We’ve got the motto that readers are leaders. The library is something they can call their own,” said Educare founder Daleen Havenga.

Educare’s Beverly Peters explained the reason why Glenanda Primary made the cut when selecting a school to receive a full library makeover.

“We had four sponsors for the school, Trade Route Mall, Polson Transport, Konica Minolta and Educare. The library caters for grade 1 to 7 learners with age groups from seven-year-old to 14-years-old. We put in brand new books such as Percy Jackson for your bigger grades like the grade sevens, and there are fairy tales and a whole range of books suitable for each grade,” said Peters.

She added that the goal was that the children could come into a place where they can enjoy reading and conduct research for school projects.

“We included a research area with a wide range of books, and there is a seating area designated for the researching learners,” concluded Peters.

The new library can accommodate a 30-pupil class and is designed to be able to establish reading from the ground phase in grade one, two and three.
