South still experiencing water shortages

JOHANNESBURG – Johannesburg Water, the City of Johannesburg’s water and sanitation service provider would like to inform residents that most of the water reservoirs and towers are recovering at a good rate.

However Johannesburg Water has emerging low water levels at Rabie Ridge, President Park and Randjesfontein reservoirs. The suburbs supplied by the three storage facilities include, Ebony Park, Kaalfontein, Ivory Park, President Park, Glen Austin, Allendale, Country View, Rabie Ridge and Mayiboye.

Other facilities that have been going up and down throughout the weekend include, Hursthill reservoir, Alexandra Park and South Hills. The suburbs affected by the above reservoirs and towers include Hursthill, Martindale, Wesbury, Mount Clare, Coronationville, Bosmont, Wesdene, Triomf, Risana, South Hills, Tulisa park, Malvern, Benrose, Denver and surround areas.

The City’s Emergency Management Services (EMS) has assisted in filling the storage tank at the Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital, this is over and above the two tanks we have on site.

Johannesburg Water is in the process of deploying more tanks to the new areas experiencing shortages. They are giving special attention and priority to hospitals, clinics and schools until the situation improves.

Johannesburg Water would like to plead with residents that do have water to use water sparingly during this period.
