Nompilo shines for Mondeor Primary

Nompilo's character will be framed at Cartoon Network Station and an animated vision of her character will appear on the series

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Youngster Nompilo Moyo won herself an ipad, a goodie bag and R3 000 for her school after taking the first place in a drawing competition in her category, the nine to 11-year-old contenders.

The exciting nationwide competition was hosted by the DSTV’s Cartoon Network to promote the art of illustration and encourage imaginative creativity, attracting over 16 000 entries.

The learners needed to draw an alien character for the action-packed and famous Ben 10 animation series.

The school staff and other learners were very excited to learn that their school scooped up the R3 000 prize, and Nompilo’s character will be framed at Cartoon Network Station and an animated vision of her character will appear on the series.

“We are very excited for Nompilo and the school. One should always be happy for other people’s victories. We take great joy in her achievement,” said an excited Annastella Papageorgiou, art teacher at the school.

Deputy Principal Mr. Spider added that the school is very excited for Nompilo’s deserved win.

The competition kicked off on Monday May 5 as a unique initiative from Cartoon Network, DStv channel 301, which aims to harness the passion of their viewers and give something back to the local communities. It encourages learners to unleash their creativity by developing new, fun characters, which are limited by nothing but their maker’s imagination, and in doing so they also stood a chance to win amazing prizes.
