Amazing journey for good cause

HIKING KILIMANJARO: Team of 10 to summit Mount Kilimanjaro for Amazing Grace Children’s Home

MEREDALE – Motshwanetse Nhlapo from Meredale and nine other team members will climb Mount Kilimanjaro from August 5 to 13, all for a good cause.

They want to help Amazing Grace Children’s Home in Eikenhof. Motshwanetse from Ward 54 will be leading her team, consisting of six women and four men.

“We started to fundraise for the home during the World Cup, when we asked patrons of PH Network (formerly Maboneng) in Colombine Avenue to donate non-perishable foods. People would come to watch soccer and they will donate, we collected this with Phindi Nhlapo-Kwanini. We are going to summit the highest mountain in Africa for them. We also used Magaliesberg as training for our excursion,” explained Motshwanetse.

Phindi Nhlapo-Kwanini and Motshwanetse Nhlapo have the wish list from Amazing Grace Children’s Home, which includes food, clothes, office equipment and kitchen appliances among other things

Two groups are behind this worthy initiative; Ward 54 Social Service Committee and Show Me Your Number. They are making Mandela Day their daily business.

To donate, SMS – SMYN to 48144 (the SMS costs R5); pledges of money and product donations are welcomed.
