BASSONIA – The day of golf was enjoyed immensely by all the golfers who took part, with dinner (Turn n Tender style) and prize giving following. Guest speaker and MC, Denis Hutchinson, the Voice of Golf, told a few of his golfing stories which had the guests in uproar.
Some of the children from St Mary’s came through to sing, which was a moving affair. Volkswagen Financial Services and Affinity Underwriting Managers sponsored a car as a prize for the golf day but unfortunately not one golfer managed to get a hole in one!
Prizes were given for the longest drive for men and women and they ranged from flat screen TV’s, lap tops, drinks hampers and lots more. An auction took place with some fabulous items auctioned, including a Michael Schumacher cap, a framed rugby shirt signed by former Springbok captain, John Smith and loads more exciting items.
“The golf day has been an amazing success and we are praying we’ll make enough money to carry St Mary’s through the winter months,” added Dimitri Papadakis, Glen Dembo and Mario Stephanou, organisers from Turn n Tender. “We thank each and every one of you who played today, all our sponsors and those who gave so generously to make this fundraiser the success it has been. We hope we’ll see you back again for a fun filled day of golf next year,” they concluded.
The total amount of money raised will be divulged in next week’s Comaro CHRONICLE.
