Gauteng Cricket awards

GCB named their winners for the 2013/2014 season.

GAUTENG Cricket Board (GCB) and bizhub Highveld Lions recently held their annual prize-giving for the 2013/14 season.

Various recipients from the club leagues, youth programmes, provincial teams and the bizhub Highveld Lions were awarded for their efforts during the season.

Thabang Moroe, GCB President, considers this as one of the most important events on the GCB calendar. “Once a year we get together to acknowledge each other and share a deep-rooted passion that we have for the game of cricket. It is so important that we further encourage each other to continue in the pursuit of excellence,” said Moroe. “I would like to especially commend Caxton Khosa Cricket Club that was appointed as Club of the Year. Their hard work and dedication showed tonight. The Presidential awards to the late Lawrence Mvumvu and Cyril Mitchley were also a personal highlight for me.”

Greg Fredericks, GCB Chief Executive said, “I am proud to acknowledge those who worked hard at their skills, their club administration and the running of the game. Events like these motivate us to continue pushing to achieve the very best.”

bizhub Highveld Lions Chairman Archie Pretorius knows that this is a necessary event for all involved with the franchise. “A prestigious event of this nature not only showcases those who worked hard at franchise level, but also exposes the franchise players to the pipeline that are producing the players of tomorrow.”
