Suspect shot during robbery in Mondeor

Injured house robbery suspect still in hospital after getting shot at scene of the crime.

MONDEOR – The news that a suspect, who was shot at a house on Boswell Street in Mondeor during a housebreaking and has since been found, was welcomed by the community. Sector 2 CPF has confirmed the suspect is still in hospital recovering from a gunshot wound.

Mondeor Police officers are still investigating whether the group of suspects involved in the house robbery incident were also connected to another crimes reported in Mondeor.

On March 9, a white Midge vehicle with no number plates and with four black males suspected of a robbery on Boswell Street in Mondeor, was seen in Bassonia on Basroyd Drive and Floreston Road in Mondeor. The two robberies have not been linked.

Police and Sector 2 patrollers still need residents’ assistance in finding suspects involved in various other crimes. Having the correct identification particulars is the first essential step for police officers and sector community patrollers in the pursuit of wanted criminals.

Although it is not always possible that a motorist sees a suspicious vehicle or individual and can readily write down all relevant identification particulars, community members are requested to try and jot down a suspicious vehicle’s registration number, the location or any identifying characteristics of a suspected criminal.

Mondeor SAPS and Sector 2 Community Patrollers released details of vehicle registration numbers of vehicles used by suspected criminals in various crimes in areas including Bassonia, Glenvista, Suideroord, Mondeor and Winchester Hills.

Between March 10 and March 3, at least seven incidents of crimes ranging from hijacking, attempted hijacking, house robberies and armed robberies were reported, in most cases the identification details captured. Residents are warned to be on the lookout.

A silver Toyota Yaris used by four black males, one in a red shirt, was seen at the scene of an attempted hijacking incident in Mondeor on Daylesford Road, Sunday March 9.

On the same Sunday, a silver Yaris with four armed black males was seen at the scene of a house robbery incident in Winchester Hills on Nyata Road. Various valuables were stolen, including the house keys, a remote control device and two vehicles. Residents are urged to be on the lookout for a stolen grey Merc C200 registration ZBL 581GP and a Toyota Corolla GLS 1.6 registration PSV 845GP.

At an attempted housebreaking that occurred in Glenvista BOLO on Cunningham Road, a blue Toyota Tazz with three black males was seen, registration is KGK 071GP.

CPF officers have identified Klipriver Drive in Glenvista near Virgin Active as a “crime hot spot”. On March 3 a domestic worker was robbed as she walked back to her place of employment with groceries and keys. Another domestic worker was robbed of her salary and cellphone on March 3 on Potgieter Street near Virgin Active.
