How the Love campaign handover became a success

Every three days a baby is abandoned, in many cases they're dumped in dustbins, toilets and parks.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – This great cause brought together people who would otherwise never have met, symbolising a sign of unity and appreciation for the efforts of the Love Campaign.

What started out as a Facebook page to help get information about the Ester Love Campaign to the people, the response received from other ministries came as a surprise to the El Bethel Fellowship Church.

The Founder of Door of Hope, Cheryl Allen, with Project Manager Carmen Pretorius, attended the handover which was held at the El Bethel church in Turffontein, and received the mountains of Nan and nappies on behalf of the home. The resources, estimated to be worth around R90 000, could be enough to last the home at least three months.

The campaign pitted men against women at the church and each team sought to raise more donations then the other sex. Pastor Cindy revealed that the ladies won the bet and managed to collect more donations for the little ones.

“It lifted the spirits of the church members, who donated because they were contributing to bettering the lives of these babies. We want to give a big thank you to Maggies Spar in Mulbarton for their continued support and contribution,” said Pastor Cindy.

Pastor Cindy related how it spoke volumes to the people when they witnessed various ministries joining forces to donate the much-needed resources for the wellbeing of abandoned babies, who have found a warm home with caring guardians.

The founders of the Love Campaign said that without the participation and cooperation of the University of Johannesburg (UJ) student houses and numerous churches from all over Johannesburg, who made contributions to the Ester Love Campaign and sought to collect six months’ worth of resources for Door of Hope, they would never have had so much to give.

The donation collections managed to fill up a taxi to the maximum as well as another carrier vehicle, all to the pleasure of attendees at the handover.

El Bethel Fellowship church would like to give thanks to the World Changers Ministries, Jireh Ministries from Eldorado Park, Teleios Church in Turffontein, Royal Kingdom Ministries in Ormonde, The Rock Church in Mondeor and the members of El Bethel Fellowship, who attributed to the success of the handover.
