The Santa Shoebox project – A great success

A total of 119 163 have been pledged and 117 774 boxes have been dropped off.

JOHANNESBURG – Santa Shoebox Project is a community initiative launched by the Kidz2Kidz Trust, with ‘share the joy of giving’ as the essence of the project. The Santa Shoebox Project offers people from all walks of life the chance to participate, which is why this year, e.tv has become the media partner and has supported this great cause with a huge on air campaign.

e.tv staff members, the cast from Scandal! and Sasani pledged shoeboxes. Group Head of e.tv Channels, Monde Twala, said, “We are all about changing people’s lives, the Santa Shoebox Project is a fantastic initiative. e.tv is happy to be involved in a project that brings so many smiles during the festive season.”

Uniquely, donor parents and their children are involved in personally selecting the name of a specific child from the selection lists on the Santa Shoebox website, and this means each participant knows the first name, age, and gender of the child.

Gift boxes are filled with some necessities, such as toothpaste and toothbrush, face cloth and soap, as well as some sweets, educational supplies, a toy and an outfit of clothing that is individually chosen and filled. The shoeboxes are dropped off at designated points and the organisation then coordinates the distribution thereof to identified homes and schools across Africa.
