‘Their intention was to kill’ – Prosecutor

The trial of four people accused of killing Johannesburg teenager Kirsty Theologo is drawing to a close in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court.

PALM RIDGE – According to Eyewitness News (ewn), “Closing arguments are expected to wrap up today and judgment from Judge Geraldine Borchers could begin this afternoon.”

Court proceedings resumed this morning and accused Courtney Daniel’s lawyer presented closing arguments as to why she should not be convicted of premeditated murder, murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

EWN reports, “Wagner, the alleged mastermind behind the attack, has already admitted to knocking Theologo unconscious and dousing her with petrol before setting her alight.”

The website says, “He claims to have been possessed by a satanic spirit at the time.”

Yesterday, the court heard that Wagner’s meticulous planning of the ritual rules out the possibility of a psychiatric disorder.

According to EWN, “Prosecutor Carina Coetzee further argued the intention of the four friends was always to kill Theologo and not only to sell their souls to the devil.”

But the prosecutor was reported to have conceded there was no direct evidence that accused one, Harvey Isha, knew what was going to happen on the hilltop.
