Community church launches Christmas crafters market

Early Christmas shopping at Riverside Community Church in the south of Johannesburg.

WITH the festive season on our doorsteps, the lovely crafts and goodies that were on offer at the very first Riverside Community Church Christmas crafters market were exactly what shoppers needed to warm the hearts of their loved ones this coming December.

Poised to be an annual event, organisers hope the newly opened Christmas crafters market on November 2 at Waterstone College will attract an even better attendance from church members and residents.

“We’re hoping that this will become an annual event which we will have nearing Christmas,” said Event Coordinator, Jean MacCallum. Adding that she was pleased with the turnout of attendees as ‘it’s been a great day already, and there have been a variety of goods on offer’.

Embellished wooden utensils, Christian motivation wall decorations, girls and boys toys, ornate garden crafts, and some good food was also sold to fill up after a long days shopping. Gourmet food cooked by a chef was a firm favourite with people queuing up for smoked brisket burger; there were also big muffins, homemade jams and other homemade goodies and sweet treats.

Young children and some teenagers also enjoyed getting their faces painted, some opting for Spiderman and others choosing lovely butterflies.

The people of Door of Hope were also there having a good time and also fundraising for their worthy cause.
