Spreading a little cheer at Door of Hope

Staff of the Headache Clinic in Parktown visited the little babies at Door of Hope in Glenvista with the main aim being to bring smiles to their faces.

Caregivers were also given a well-deserved rest for the day, September 6.

Headache Clinic staff visited Door of Hope babies to handover medical supplies and other goodies.

Every year a non-profit organization (NPO) is selected for sponsorship by the volunteers who work at the Headache Clinic, and Door of Hope was the charity chosen in 2013.

“We brought them resources for their urgent needs as they are an NPO and we just wanted to come help out and do our bit for the community,” said Kayleen Naidoo.

They brought with them goodies packed full in the back of a minivan, such as milk formulas, cases of purity (fruit and veggies), cereals, Pampers nappies, Miltons, multi-vitamins, creams, nose drops and sprays for the babies.

However, the caretakers were not left out, for them, groceries including Rooibos tea, sugar, long life milk, cremora and peanut butter. For cleaning, sterilizing and cooking they were given surgical gloves, hand sanitizer, salt, black refuse bags, air freshener, toilet paper and tissues, floor polish, furniture polish and dish washing liquid.

The staff separated into two groups with each going to the one of the two Door of Hope branches both situated in Glenvista.

“We also brought a lot of cakes and other sweet treats just to spoil them,” she added.

Door of Hope Liaison Officer, Marcell Koortse said “we just want to say thank you to the Headache Clinic for bringing all of this stuff and for all the delicious eats they brought for the staff. We’re very greatful for the medical stuff because we always need the skin cream.”

Adding that they are grateful for all the effort by their visitors, also noting appreciation for the effort and thought put into selecting the goods sponsored by the clinic’s volunteering staff members.
