Fun Day at Mondeor High School

MONDEOR High school grounds were abuzz with youngsters and budding entrepreneurs alike who came to raise funds for the schools development on September 6, also to mingle with friends, get in some shopping and enjoy good music.

“The fun day fundraiser was hosted by Grade 11 learners, debutantes and members of the choir who were split into groups, each running their own stall,” explained Educator, Mrs Swan.

Different cultures and subcultures were represented at the stalls such as the African culture, Bollywood, Portuguese, American and Italian cultures. The names were equally as diverse and interesting as the goods for sale.

There were the Bollywood Starts who sold spicy and Indian inspired food, Italian Kisses who offered chocolates and sugary treats, other groups were named African Cuisine, Sweet Shop, Heat Seekers, The Yankees and Portugal.

The entertainment at the event was amazing, as the learners described it, where attendees danced their feet off to the sounds played by various DJs who competed in the Battle of the DJs competition. There was also a display of vintage Ford cars for old-school car lovers. Other entertainment included a modelling show courtesy of Elite modelling agency, where children as young as six, showcased their modelling skills to a very impressed audience. Games for the children were also available for the little ones, who joined in the fun day with participants in the children’s race winning food packs of nice treats; inside were lollipops, zoom juice and toys. The top three winners got a choice of either taking a colourful watch or sunglasses.

Also at the school, showing their support. A memorial basketball match was played by graduated pupils of the school in remembrance of a Vuyo Makapela, who was a Mondeor High School graduate before he passed on. ER24 medics and Johannesburg Metro Police officers were also at the school, showing their support.
