GALLERY: Two new additions to Thaba Eco Park

Not only will you experience the incredible game, birdlife, and highveld flora, but if you look closely you may also spot the newest members of the Thaba family, their two black wildebeest calves.

If you want to make a quick buck, blindfold someone and place them in the Thaba Eco Park and ask them where they are, no one will ever guess Johannesburg.

Not only will you experience the incredible game, birdlife, and highveld flora, but if you look closely you may also spot the newest members of the Thaba family, their two black wildebeest calves.

Thaba has two animals not found in the Kruger National Park, the black wildebeest, and springbok, with frequent visits from the majestic black eagle.

You can choose to admire these incredible insignia of the South African highveld from the comfort of a game drive vehicle or if you are more daring, do so on foot or your mountain bike. You will also find in the reserve zebra, blesbuck, duikers, impala, black-back jackal, caracal (lynx), and, of course, the two black wildebeest calves.

The first has been named Wonderer since he loves to wonder off from the heard, offering perfect photo opportunities while striking his confident pose.

His camera-shy brother, however, prefers to remain safely tucked away among the heard. Since its inception over two decades ago, Thaba Eco Hotel has recognised and valued the need for managing its environmental impact sustainably and responsibly.

As a company, Thaba has incorporated several creative and positive measures that contribute to the biodiversity and sustainability of the area, the community, and the planet.

The ‘eco’ in their name is more than just a word. It defines everything they do and every element of the way they work. Thaba is committed to managing the environmental impact, with a strong focus on xeriscaping. Xeriscaping refers to water conservation through creative landscaping at the hotel to minimize the need for water use.
