“We decided to take this step of faith towards the mandate set before us. Our mandate as the Word of God teaches us in Matthew 28 is clear and our assignment is to work within the communities in the South of Johannesburg extending to all the parts of Johannesburg, South Africa and to the nations,” said Bryant Lee, who is an elder and chairperson of the church.

Harvest started in 1988 and Dr Samuel Doctorian, who was the spiritual father, dedicated the building in 1990. Harvest Christian School opened in 1991.

“In October last year, we lost our Pastor Gerhard Fourie to cancer. In this difficult season, the leadership took time to pray and seek God for the way forward. We felt that after 30 years, we were being led into a new season where a ‘Joshua Generation’ was emerging. The Lord gave us a clear assignment and a defined vision, which reads ‘We see a new breed of worshippers, creating atmospheres for a breakthrough in every stratum of society, restoring lives and transforming cities and nations’,” said Lee.

The Harvest leadership felt that they were being challenged to step up and become the army of God in this season and the decision was made to rename Harvest Christian Fellowship to Frontline Church, which speaks to the vision.

The church’s core values are love, real, honour and family. Its mission is to grow God’s Kingdom through the development of leaders by engaging, equipping and enabling individuals.

“We are excited about the new season we are going into as a church and we invite you to participate as we seek to fulfil the call placed on us as the church,” said Lee.

The church had a family day to celebrate its name change where members wore Frontline Church T-shirts and fellowshipped together over a braai, fun, and games for the whole family.
