Local church cleans up

A LOCAL church in the South took to the streets of Mulbarton, Glenanda and Glenvista and cleaned up the areas by picking up all the litter.

The Way Ministries had a mission to see communities in the South being cared for and their team accomplished that over the past few weekends.

The team cleaned up the park area next to the Glenanda Caltex, the area around the library, the roadside by Glenanda Primary as well as the park on Glen Ave. Seattle Coffee together with Caltex Glenanda got behind the clean-up campaign by graciously sponsoring the team with their amazing cappuccinos.

The team even got a photo op with Miss Earth ambassador, Catherine Constantinides, who gave their work the thumbs up.

Some of their other clean-up projects over the past couple of weekends have been the park and surrounding areas by the new Glenvista Primary School as well as Mulbarton Primary School, where the principal Mr. Kistadoo, of Mulbarton Primary joined in to clean up the park opposite the school.

During the clean-ups in different areas the team came across some concerning findings in the parks in the area, such as clear packets used to contain drugs, alcohol bottles, syringes, even a bottle top used for smoking.

“As a community we must be aware and report any suspicious activity happening in these areas. It’s important for parents and the schools to keep the kids informed about drug awareness and stay clear from drug peddlers,” said the pastor Graeme Saunders.

“At The Way Ministries we have a great team of people experienced in school talks that are available to speak with students about being aware of drugs as well as inspiring the learners to be leaders in their schools and community,” he said.

The church is also inviting the community to join them in their clean-up campaigns. You can find the church on Facebook (The Way Ministries) to see posts for the next clean-up campaign dates.
