‘I will buy a new car for my father’ – Karabo

Part of the prize money Karabo has won will go towards his parents.

JOHANNESBURG – This year’s South African Idols Winner, Karabo Mogane plans to buy his father a car with part of the prize money he has won.

Karabo who was named Season 11 Idols SA winner on Sunday November 22 told journalists that with the amount of money he has won he will be buying his father a Volvo S40 as well as helping upgrade his parents’ house.

He said, “I will be using the money to help upgrade my parents’ house, I also plan on buying a car for my father, his favourite car is the Volvo S40.”

The former Stellenbosch student with the soothing voice secured the lion’s share of more than 16 million votes cast for him and runner-up and Mmatema Moremi.

The top two did not only smash previous voting records; during this season’s Idols SA, a new record of 78.8 million votes has been cast since voting lines were open.

Executive Producer of the show Gary Wratten attributed the voting record to the growth of the Idols brand as well as the contestants who took part in the competition.

Karabo’s debut album is expected to be launched on December 11, setting a new record on the release of the Idols SA winner’s album.

Managing Director of Universal Music South Africa, Randall Abrahams confirmed, “The album should be available in all leading music stores by December 11.”
