Resident takes action after 8-year-old’s tragic death

Nadia died after being hit by a car on September 18.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – A heartbreaking story of the untimely passing of an eight-year-old girl, involved in a tragic accident on September 18, touched Marlene Groth, a Mondeor resident, and prompted her to take action.

Over the past few weeks, Groth has been selling raffle tickets to residents of the South with the aim of raising funds to assist Adrie and John Bond who lost their daughter, Nadia.

“I read the story when Nadia died and it broke my heart. I can’t bear to see what her family is going through and I cry for them and their baby girl every day. I can’t really explain it. Maybe it’s empathy because I can actually feel their pain. They are from Kraaifontein in Cape Town, but I believe as a community and as parents we can all support,” said Groth.

According to her grieving parents, Nadia died after being hit by a car.

Her father, John, said the driver was arrested on September 18 and charged with culpable homicide. He was released on bail on September 21.

The Kraaifontein SAPS confirmed that a case of culpable homicide has been opened.

“The reason for this raffle is to raise funds to ensure justice is served for the beautiful child, Nadia Stephanie Bond, and her family. All funds raised will be used for the extensive costs of private forensic investigations. Please buy a ticket for the raffle and use the reference pamper hamper,” added Groth.

A pamper hamper worth R950.00 is up for grabs for the lucky winner. Raffle tickets are R100 each for ten draws, and each person will get one number. To purchase a ticket, contact Marlene Groth on Facebook.
