Townhouse break-ins on the increase

If you live in a townhouse complex, don’t become complacent and think your home won’t be targeted by criminals.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH –  Michelle Pelser (CPF Mondeor) advises:

Don’t sleep with your windows open, especially the bathroom and kitchen windows.

Ensure all doors and windows have security bars.

If the complex has an electric fence, check it’s working regularly.

If there is a paid security company, see they are listed with the necessary security board and the guards are graded.

You can purchase a wireless motion detector for when you sleep. This way if anyone enters your home while you are sleeping, it will alert you.

Ensure all computers, cell phones and handbags are packed away safely before going to sleep.

Always keep your blinds and curtains closed when you put your inside lights on.

Always know who is living in your complex and if something looks out of place say something.

Always be vigilant and keep safe.
