St Mary’s launches newly refurbished cottage

In the grounds of St Mary’s Children’s Home, situated in Rosettenville, are six cottages which each accommodate between 10 and 12  children and a house mother.

ROSETTENVILLE – Since Nedbank Motor Finance Corporation (Division of Nedbank) came on board about five years ago, they have been responsible for the refurbishment of three cottages and many other minor maintenance ventures as well as spoiling staff and children. The latest cottage to undergo  refurbishment is Keith Davy and on Wednesday August 5 staff from Nedbank Motor Finances Corporation, invited guests and children from the home, gathered in the cottage to view what has taken place.

“This is indeed a special occasion and we would like to thank Heine Klee and his staff from Nedbank, MFC for everything they have done for this home. You have no idea how the children appreciate their newly revamped home and what it does for them. We know they are special but this makes them feel extremely special,” said Sonja Harmse, director of the children’s home. Bishop Peter Lee blessed the cottage in prayer and chairman of the home, Advocate Manaka, said how thrilled he was to be at the opening of the newly refurbished cottage. “This is such an honour to be here today at this auspicious occasion. The children who are moving into this cottage are excited beyond belief,” he added.

Cries of joy could be heard as the children saw their new bedrooms, bathrooms and TV lounge. “It’s so exciting!” they said.

Refreshments were enjoyed and all the children from the home came along to join in the celebrations.
