Aliens with misinterpreted video feeds declare war on earth

In Pixels, when intergalactic aliens discover video feeds of classic arcade games and misinterpret them as a declaration of war

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – As kids growing up in the 1980s, Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), Will Cooper (Kevin James), Ludlow Lamonsoff (Josh Gad), and Eddie “The Fire Blaster” Plant (Peter Dinklage) saved the world 1 000 times over – at 25 cents a game in the video arcades.

Now, they’re going to have to do it for real, and you can catch all the comedic action of Pixels when the film releases on Ster-Kinekor’s larger-than-life IMAX® 3D screens, from Friday, July 24.

In Pixels, when intergalactic aliens discover video feeds of classic arcade games and misinterpret them as a declaration of war, they attack the Earth, using the video games as the models for their various assaults.

Now US President Will Cooper (Kevin James) must call on his old-school arcade friends to save the world from being destroyed by PAC-MAN™, Donkey Kong™, Galaga™, Centipede®, and Space Invaders™.

Joining them is Lieut Col Violet van Patten (Michelle Monaghan), a specialist supplying the old-school arcade-gamers with unique weapons to fight the aliens.

The IMAX release of Pixels has been digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of an IMAX 3D experience. The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customised theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are right in the middle of the battle to save Earth!

This stimulating and tactical comedy is sure to leave you searching for that old Nintendo 64 you have somewhere in your closet. Check out the trailer below to prepare yourself for the biggest alien invasion the Earth has yet seen!
