Cancer foundation to honour Celia da Costa
The foundation decided that it would be fitting for a lunch to be held in her honour.
THE Manny de Freitas Foundation (MdFF) will be hosting a fund-raising lunch in honour of Celia da Costa, to celebrate her life and her birthday, which would have taken place on the Thursday, June 25.
Da Costa was a victim of a vicious crime. She lost her life after being stopped and shot in her vehicle in an attempted robbery after leaving the Lusito Land Festival this year.
Since June is the month when she would have been celebrating her birthday, the MdFF executive director, Jeanette de Freitas, decided that it would be fitting for a lunch to be held in honour of Celia da Costa. Celia had special concerns for those suffering with cancer and also for the elderly. Proceeds from this lunch will go to the MdFF as well as the Lar de Nossa Senhora de Fatima Portuguese Old Age Home in Brentwood Park, Benoni.
The luncheon will take place on Sunday, June 28, at 12:30, at the Rodizio Brazilian Restaurant in Bedfordview. Tickets are R250 each and may be obtained from Jeanette de Freitas on 082 411-7928.
