Blast from the past at St Patrick’s reunion fundraiser
Yesterday’s Jovens from St Patrick’s Church in La Rochelle, managed to raise a substantial amount of money at their reunion, which was held at Casa Da Madeira in Alberton, on Saturday March 14.
ALBERTON – There was a fabulous turnout with more than 500 people from past youth groups from the 70s, 80s 90s and 2 000s. “It was so exciting to see many people who we hadn’t seen for over 20 years,” said Paul Amaro.
Father Sergio from St Patrick’s began with a prayer and a blessing and then the party started with music by Sounds Gr8 and DJ Mickey Pereira.
Casa Da Maderia (CDM) sponsored the hall and all the food was donated by different people. Kind donors also gave gifts for the auctions and raffles and the ladies from CDM prepared the delicious food.
“Thank you to all the sponsors, donors and the ‘youth’ who came along to enjoy the evening. We managed to raise R52 000, a great amount, which was handed over to the priests the very next day,” added Paul.
