Mondeor CPF warning alerts

From 14:30 on weekdays Columbine Avenue, Mondeor sees many scholars from high schools in the area who beg for a lift to Southgate Mall.

MONDEOR – Dangerous or not this seems to be the norm in this area and seems to be getting worse day by day. There is an increase of complaints coming through from concerned residents. The high speeding on Columbine Avenue also seems to be the norm and there is also a high accident rate on this road due to speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol.

“We appeal to residents in the area to not give these scholars a lift. Reason for this is if you are in an accident and the scholar is injured or even worse passes away, you are going to be responsible as the scholar was travelling in your vehicle at the time of the accident. When someone passes away the driver of the vehicle is investigated and if you are found guilty you stand the chance of going to Jail. Also if you do not have a PDP licence to transport passengers or scholars, you will be fined. It is also illegal to transport scholars on the back of a bakkie or boot of a vehicle. Do not put yourself at risk damaging your creditability while trying to assist an unknown passenger,” said Michelle Pelser of Mondeor CPF.

Finding a house in an emergency

There seems to be a number of houses in Mondeor CPF precinct that do not have house numbers on them.

If in an emergency you call for assistance from SAPS, CPF patrollers, EMS, Fire, JMPD and security companies, they will battle to find your house, taking it longer to respond when necessary.

Residents are advised to please make sure your house has a visible house number in front of it.

This will ensure and give you peace of mind that if you or your family need assistance, it will shorten the response time.

Don’t park your vehicle on the pavement

When visiting family, a friend or a client at their home, please do not leave your vehicle outside on the pavement.

Vehicle theft has increased, do not become a target of crime by leaving your vehicle outside whether it be day or night.

If you are having a function, please ask you gardener or your security company to keep an eye on the vehicles parked outside your home.

Should your vehicle be stolen, please remember to report it to SAPS 10111 or 112 from your cellphone immediately with the following details so a lookout can be given to the SAPS Vans. Make of vehicle, colour of vehicle, registration of vehicle, has it got a tracking unit, if so which company? Address where vehicle was stolen (ie: 999 Columbine Avenue, corner Ormonde Drive Mondeor), estimated time of vehicle theft, full names of registered owner and contact numbers.

When a SAPS Sector van reports to the scene or you go to your nearest police station you will need vehicle documents so engine and chassis number can be given over.
