Oscar Chauke becomes new title holder

OSCAR Chauke from BRD Boxing Academy travelled to Namibia to become the new title holder of the IBF Intercontinental featherweight division.

He challenged and beat the champion, Gottlieb Ndokosho, in a unanimous points decision from the judges on February 28 at Outapi, Namibia.

His record read: won 33 (KO 11) + lost 9 (KO 1) + drawn 3 = 45 rounds boxed 285 KO % 24.44.

The IBF has congratulated the New IBF International featherweight champion, Oscar Chauke from South Africa, after he dethroned Namibian beloved son Gottlieb Ndokosho over the weekend.

IBF Chairman of Championship Committee Lindsey Tucker said, “Dear Champion Oscar Chauke, Congratulations on your victory over former Champion Gottlieb Ndokosho in an optional defense of the IBF International Featherweight Championship on Saturday, February 28. We wish you all the best for a long and illustrious career as the IBF International Featherweight Champion.”

Ndokosho lost his title to the most experienced boxer in Oscar Chauke, who dominated the fight form the start with his huge telling jab.

The IBF Championship Zsar went on to tell the new champion that: “You are expected to defend the title against a credible opponent within six months. As you may know, there are no international ratings. The IBF will approve an opponent with an acceptable record. We would prefer an opponent that is not coming off from a knockout loss. Under no circumstances will the IBF allow the championship to remain idle for more than six months or past August 28, 2015.”

The winner and new champion, king Oscar Chauke, who has amassed a great boxing record, has indicated that he might give Ndokosho a rematch early in June this year.
