EIKENHOF – A resident saw three men breaking into the house and followed the suspects who were driving a white bakkie. Once he had established in which direction they were travelling, he contacted the police.
Warrant Officer Kgautsi and Constable Mudau of Soweto Flying Squad waited for the suspects’ car along Eikenhof Road.
When one of the police officer’s tried to stop the suspects’ vehicle, the driver drove straight at the officers, aiming to knock them over. The officers fired shots at the suspects and they lost control of their vehicle, hitting a wall. All three suspects, aged between 36 and 46 years, were treated for minor injuries and arrested.
The property stolen in the housebreaking was found in their possession and they were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property and housebreaking and theft.
SAPS would like to commend the resident for being vigilant and acting in a tactful manner by obtaining all the relevant information.
